What is the 7908 Songwriters Festival?
Produced by Songwriter Hall Of Fame member John Oates and the Wheeler Opera House, The 7908 Aspen Songwriters Festival is the nation's most intimate musical weekend, as it creates the shortest distance between the artists who write the songs and the fans who want to hear them in their purest, most real form. Legendary writers perform side by side with the next great generation of songwriting talent. Be on the cutting edge of the music with 7908!7908 is more than just the altitude of Aspen CO. It's also a state of mind where imagination is heightened, ideas run freely, and friendships are forged for a lifetime. The Aspen Songwriters Festival takes Aspen's 60-year legacy as America's premier artistic "think tank" and introduces it to brilliant songwriters old and new from all across th nation: A breeding ground for the next generation of song. A unique collaboration between Songwriting Hall of Fame member John Oates and Aspen's 1889-vintage Wheeler Opera House, the festival grew from a 2009 mini-series called The Stories Behind the Songs, and a mutual love of creating the "shortest distance between the songwriter's voice and the listener's ear." Now that idea has been broadened and deepened, dedicated to capturing exactly what the artists heard and how they heard it, in an intimate experience unlike that of any other music festival out there. You can't get closer to the music than 7908. For more on The 7908 Aspen Songwriters Festival click here. For more on the Historic Wheeler Opera House click here.
