How to Create Web Page Music and Audio
There are a number of ways to create web page music and audio. Most web page music files are either midi files, mp3 files, or wav files and are played by the default media player installed on your computer, i.e. Windows Media Player, Real Player, Quicktime, and others.
It's a relatively simple process to add the HTML code required for your audio file (midi, mp3, wav, etc.) to play from your website.
And you have a number of choices of how to play your music that can be specified within the code. For instance, you can give your web page visitor the option of hearing the music or not by adding the code for a "play" (or on/off) link.
Alternately you can "embed" the code, giving no choice to your visitor. The file will automatically start to play when the web page loads. If your visitor's speakers are turned on, they'll hear the music!
There are other "playing options" as well. Instead of a button or text link, you can have a small console with on and off switches (and "pause" too) on your web site, giving even more control to your visitor.
Here is a website where you can learn more and get the code needed to add these types of music and and audio files (midi, mp3, wav, etc.) to your website.
It is important to understand, however, that to use these types of files to play music on your web page, and adding the necessary HTML code to your website to play them, you must have access to the server which hosts your website.
You have to upload your audio files (or have them uploaded) so that the HTML code that you have added to your web pages will find and play the files.
Normally this is done using an FTP program. If your web host allows you to have "FTP access" to your web site, then you can upload all the files and required HTML code by yourself! (Otherwise, you'll need the help of your web host.)
There is another simple and effective option to adding music and audio to your web pages that you might want to consider: Instant Audio.
With this service, all of your music and audio files are hosted on the parent company's server so all you need to do is upload your mp3 files to their server, and then the HTML code to the audio is automatically created. You can also choose all diffrent kinds of "players" for different purposes.
The downside to Instant Audio is that although it's extremely simple to use for both you and your listener, the program utilizes extreme compression on the audio (in order to allow for fast loading and long -- up to over an hour! -- audio programs) which means that for music files especially, the sound fidelity is not nearly as high as an mp3 file.
But there are added benefits to Instant Audio. For instance, you could record (by telephone even!) an introduction from you to your listener about your music, your career...anything you want to say...to help increase interest in what you do.
And of course, for any educational programming, Instant Audio is the best solution ever! Here's an example of an Instant Audio educational program, courtesy of DurangoSong.com:
