Victory has its costs
(Canada)
Land for ethanol crops too often means less land for food crops. Any shift to alcohol fuels, without a simultaneous movement toward eating locally and making alcohol from non-food sources, will make it even harder for poor countries to feed their growing populations and tend to increase the cost of living for others, including North Americans. I'm all for diversification of energy sources, but it must be done in a responsible manner that minimizes side effects that could otherwise promote more conflict.
