Three of the most influential artists in the music industry will headline this year’s third annual We the People Music and Arts Festival in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES — What does Les Claypool, considered by some to be the best bassist in the world, Tom Morello, 25th on Rolling Stones top guitarists in the world list and RZA actor and hip hop icon, all have in common? Not only are they some of the most influential artists of the millennium; which each of them taking credit as being the founding father of their respected groups… Primus, Rage against the Machine and the Wu Tang Clan; they are all appearing at this year’s 3rd annual We the People Music, Arts & Cultural Festival in los Angeles.

Joining them this year is Barrington Levy, celebrated as Jamaica’s #1 singer of all time and heralded as the first original singer of the dance hall era, Levy as well as fellow performer Eek A Mouse is sure to provide Reggae fans with memories they will never forget. Punk/Metal fans shouldn’t feel left out because headlining one of the multiple stages is none other than L.A’s own Suicidal Tendencies, the Los Angeles based band credited as the originators of skatepunk.

Over 30 bands will perform on multiple stages including Dj Premier of GangStarr, Fishbone, Dilated Peoples, Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down and many more. The line up at this year’s festival reads like a who’s who in music. Most of these performers are internationally renowned and have worked with numerous influential artists like Bruce Springsteen and Metallica just to name a few.

"Not just a music festival” While the performers are the main draw at the We the People Festival they are not the only reason to attend. The tagline on the website reads, "We the People" Music, Arts & Cultural Festival 2008 -America's premier socially conscious entertainment & music festival” Judging from last year’s festival, they are not exaggerating; not many music festivals can boast that they have been endorsed by 35th district Congresswoman, Maxine Waters. Prominent speakers at We the People Festival this year will be Green party Presidential Nominee Cynthia McKinney, Congressional Candidate Cindy Sheehan aka The Peace Mom as well as South Central Farm Organizer Tezozomoc and internationally syndicated radio personality Jack Blood.

At the Festival, attendees can walk around the beautiful 32 acre Los Angeles State Historic park and enjoy many multicultural performances like, Martial Arts, Danza Mexica,Tribal Dancing, and B Boys and B Girls… to name just a few. There is also an international food court where attendees can choose from an assortment of dishes that compliment various tastes and cultures. A kids’ corner where children of all ages can enjoy a variety of arts and crafts will occupy a giant tent.

Children under 9 are free! There will also be an Art Exhibit entitled “Art is a Hammer” by Spectr & Shephard Fairey. Last but definitely not least, a section of the festival is set aside as a non-profit quad where non-profit organizations can share their information and ask for donations without any cost to their organization. This year one of the participants is the National Bone Marrow Donor Program, festival attendees can join the bone marrow registry and one day possibly save a life. Rock the Vote will also be on hand to lend its support to the “We the People” Festival. Tickets are only $45 and can be bought online and in person at all Ticket master retail outlets.
