the man who invented the karaoke machine

As far as I know it is a Filipino who invented that machine. He called it Musicmate. Since there was no support from any investors, a Japanese business bought the invention from him and called it Karaoke.

You can verify it because the real inventor in the Philippines is the maker of Sing Along Musicmate sound system...
