The Fifty Minute Hour?

by Abel S. Badillo
(Houston, TX)

The article in Wikipedia about the song, tells a different story about the title of the song. Told personally by Gimbel, he mentions an Argentinean musician called Lalo Shifrin who handed him a novel from an Argentinean writer, but does not mention the title of the book.

This has intrigued me since I usually get to read and look for books that other people mention or consider of value. Now, I am in the quest of finding that book. "The 50 minute hour" that Lieberman mentions is not the type of book that would have this sentence. All I know about the book is:
- that it must have been published by the mid-sixties
- from an Argentinean author
- In Spanish
- and it contains a character that speaks of sitting in a bar and an American "killing me softly with his blues".

Tough quest I know, but I have been in this road before. I have found books by just knowing the theme. I have found songs knowing only a little verse of the lyrics. I will get there, meanwhile, I will appreciate the help of anybody that knows anything about the book.
