Number One Songs—Rock Me Gently

Who sang "Rock Me Gently"? Yep, the one in the Jeep Liberty TV commercial where the coyote eats the bird and then spits it out. "Rock Me Gently, Rock Me Slowly..." Who is that? Neil Diamond (think "Sweet Caroline" and "Cracklin' Rosie")? NOPE. Not Neil Diamond. But same vintage, 1970s. Andy Kim took "Rock Me Gently" to #1 in 1974.

Singer and songwriter Andy Kim was born Andrew Youakim, December 5, 1952, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Of course there IS a musical connection between Andy Kim and Neil Diamond: Jeff Barry (and his songwriter/producer wife Ellie Greenwich,) who produced Neil Diamond's early records.
