"Monday Monday," as recorded by the Mamas and the Papas for Dunhill Records, was a #1 Billboard Top Forty hit in April of 1966.

When Denny Doherty passed away in January 2007, the Mamas and the Papas were reduced to no Papas and just one Mama, Michelle Phillips.

Founding member John Phillips died of heart failure on March 18, 2001 (he also underwent a liver transplant in the 1980s) and co-founder Mama Cass Elliott died many years earlier, also from heart failure, in 1974 at the age of 33.

SIDEBAR: The urban myth of Mama Cass Elliott dying by choking on a ham sandwich is not true, although Austin Powers in his debut as Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery believes the tabloids...he also learns that "Liberace was gay?" Who knew? Funny scene in a very funny movie.
