Number One Songs—I'm Too Sexy
Although the British pop-rock trio Right Said Fred (R*S*F) remained a viable musical act well into the new millenium, the band never managed to repeat the success of their break-out novelty song "I'm Too Sexy."
In 1992, "I'm Too Sexy" spent seven weeks at #1 and R*S*F was the first British band since the Beatles debuted at #1 in 1964 with "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to hit the top of the charts with their very first single.
Comprised of brothers Fred and Richard Fairbrass and Rob Manzoli, Right Said Fred captivated a then MTV-crazy American public with their song and video lampooning the narcissistic world of high fashion.
R*S*F took its name from another British novelty song which was a hit for Bernard Cribbins in 1962.
