DURANGO SONGWRITERS EXPO HOSTS HOLIDAY SHOWCASE AT THAT'S COOL NASHVILLE 12.29.11 8PM

by DurangoSong.com LLC
(Nashville)

"Alternative Music Careers" will be the theme of this special holiday show to be held Thursday, December 29th at 8pm at That's Cool in Nashville.

Hosted by Jack Hayford, co-founder of DurangoSong.com and partner in the highly acclaimed Durango Songwriters Expo, this musical event will highlight singer/songwriters who are using their entrepreneurial skills in addition to their talents to think "outside the box" in pursuit of a successful career in the music world.

Featured artists include:

Amanda Williams:

Nashville-based songwriter Amanda Williams has grown up in the music industry, being the daughter of songwriting icon Kim Williams whose songwriting credits include huge hits for Garth Brooks and the Grammy Winning "Three Wooden Crosses" for Randy Travis. Amanda, a Berklee Music School graduate, is the driving force behind the newly created Hillbilly Culture Music Publishing company. Through an ongoing series of seminars and retreats, Amanda and her team are educating musicians and songwriters about the changing face of the music industry, and helping to identify new opportunities for those seeking a successful career in music.

Randy and Ronnie Brooks:

In the mid-1970s, Kentucky born and Vanderbilt University educated Randy Brooks penned the now ubiquitous holiday classic "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" and immediately stumbled on to a cottage industry within the music business that many greater-known performers can only admire! Says Randy, "Years ago, I figured that with all the various anthology albums and special products on which 'Grandma' had been included, over forty million albums containing 'Grandma' had been sold. I have no idea what it might be today. I do know that in recent years, just toys playing the song have been selling at a rate of a quarter million units a year. In 2008, before Christmas even arrived, I got an initial payment for 250,000 units of the 'Essential Now That's What I Call Christmas' compilation CD." Randy will be flying in for the show from his home in Dallas and will be accompanied onstage by his Nashville-based brother Ronnie, also an accomplished guitarist and songwriter.

Jessica Frech:

The youngest of the featured performers, Jessica Frech is currently a student at Belmont University in Nashville and something of a YouTube phenomenon. In her short career Jessica has become known the world over as the singer and composer of the YouTube hit "The People of Walmart" which has been watched nearly six million times! A prolific producer of music videos for the web, Jessica's cute and clever clips have collectively garnered over 10 million views! In 2011, her sudden web popularity resulted in the opportunity for her to create a holiday commercial for giant car maker Hyundai. The ad has been shown constantly throughut the holiday season on most major networks and has been a staple on Hyundai sponsored sports events including NFL games. Jessica is a true "multi-threat" with her impressive abilities in singing, writing, acting and producing. And yet still only 20 years old! Jessica is a rising star!

The evening will feature short interviews with these inspiring music innovators followed by their performances.

In addition, local Durango Songwriters Expo alums will perform and talk about what this nearly 16 year old talent showcase and seminar has done for their careers. Learn how you can benefit as well!

The show will start at 8PM. THAT'S COOL is located at 2309 B Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37204 (just down 8th from Douglas Corner). Pizza by the slice is available along with a large variety of bottled beers. In addition you may BYOB! (There is a $10 corking fee.) This is an ALL AGES show. $5 cover charge at door.
