"La Grange," with its famous Billy Gibbons guitar riff (along with the suggestive "hmm hmm hmm hmm" vocalization), is pure ZZ Top. Released on 1973's Top Ten break-out album Tres Hombres, "La Grange" helped define the sound of arguably the most popular blues/boogie rock trio in history, and propel the group into stardom. The group was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2004.

"'La Grange' is the hit song from ZZ Top's 1973 album "Tres Hombres." At a glance, the song sounds like it's just about a shack in a little Texas town. If you get the lyrics right however, you will realize that they are talking about a whorehouse. Fortunately for ZZ Top, radio stations did not pick up on the underlying themes of the song. Most songs, let alone Top 10 Hit Songs back in 1973 did not even come close to talking about some of the things that ZZ Top talks about in this song [and others like "Pearl Necklace" and "Tube Snake Boogie" released in 1981 on El Loco]. The other aspect about this song that makes this song amazing is the guitar riff- it's just one of the best of all-time. There is a reason why Jimi Hendrix once said that Billy Gibbons was his favorite guitarist ever. This song proves that."
